Marble can be incorporated into the home in so many ways. Marble can be used for tiling bathrooms, topping counters, and topping tables. Topping tables with marble is a way to bring marble out of the kitchen and bathroom and into other areas of the home. If the kitchen already incorporates marble, using a marble dining table in the dining room extends the marble motif into both places.

Because marble comes in so many different colors it is not hard to match the table top color with the base of the table. When the base of the table is made of a different material than the marble top they look best when made of coordinating colors. If the marble top is made of a dark colored marble like grey or brown marble the base would look best in a dark brown color or stain. A light sand colored marble topped table would look nice with an unstained or beech wood base. Even though other base materials look best when they are matched to the color of the marble, the exception to this is a black cast iron base. A black cast iron table base looks good with almost any color marble table top.

Marble dining tables can be topped with marble and the base of the table can be made of other material such as iron or wood, or there are marble dining tables that are made entirely of marble including the base. Marble table tops can be made in rectangular or circular shapes. The circular marble table top shapes are made to fit on top of pedestal bases because the pedestal base supports a smaller circular top. The rectangular table tops are used with a base that has four legs because the four legs support a larger top.
